Hi Jaime! The cafe I ate that salad at is a well-known yoga/health food cafe in Ubud. Lots of foreign travelers occupy the place and I believe they're in sync with Yoga Barn. In that case, raw foods and salads weren't a problem. Ubud and some other tourist destinations in Bali have an overwhelming population of foreign travelers and long staying expats, so I kind of dropped my guard a bit on the salad. However, I'd probably avoid salads in more local or street food areas. These days, there's more online reviews about cafes and restaurants (even in Bali), so you can check that out.

Hello Cristine, thank you for all of your blogposts and videos. I have learning a lot with you about Asia. I will do my first visit to asia in march, more specificly to Bali and Java, and I have some fears about the water. I have saw some of your videos talking about the precautions with the raw foods, but in your photos i saw burgers with raw salads, isn't a problem in bali? Do you have some advice to me about that? I wish you the best trips ever!

We just came back from Indonesia and also spent some days in Ubud. We experienced Ubud to be like this description. Your impression "doesn’t really feel Balinese at times" fits - sometimes it is more like visiting a Balinese City full of Europeans and Australians. Still Ubud is absolutely unique! We also wrote a report on Ubud. As we did some other tours and visited some other restaurants and stayed at another place you might have a look at our report :)

Wonderful guide here! Unfortunate that you didn't have a great experience at Yoga Barn. We spent a month in Ubud and pretty much lived at Yoga Barn. I felt that depending on the teacher/class I would either love it or walk away thinking it was pretty average. After a found a few teachers I liked, everything worked out great!

@Agness: Next time I go I'll definitely have to try some of the types of food places you've tried. I can't believe you paid less than $5 for two people on a motorbike. You must've gotten a great deal!
