Not sure how I'd fare with eating with my fingers - especially at the point of tossing the food into my mouth! Still, it looks fun - plus, I'm sure you'd end up with delicious smelling hands by the end of the meal. Mmmm!

@Iamthewitch/Mei Yee: Yes! Malaysian folk DO eat with their hands too! When I saw this, I practically squealed. It was an excuse to keep practicing. I'm not sure why eating with your hands makes the food taste better. Maybe it's the salt on your skin, body chemistry or even the idea of it being physical contact. I'm sure your nanny must've known the answer to that. .-)

Love this post! We have south indian restaurants over here in Malaysia too and it's a norm to see people eating with hands. I myself had experience eating with hands since I was a little kid because my nanny was an Indian. It was messy but so much fun! I begin to think eating with hand makes the rice taste better too ;)

@Kirk: Ha ha... I guess it must be hard for left-handers, culturally... although I hear y'all are ambidextrous! ;-)
@Odysseus: I didn't know you went to India- your blog didn't say. Was it recently?
