In reply to Harjinder Landar Vargan. It's my first visit as an adult so i wanted to see a selection of forts and palaces and different states. Im trainspotting the Ooty train. Varanasi and Agra is in there too. I might aim to add in Cochin too! But im more or less decided. Im saving some areas for a visit for another time! Good to leave something so i have incentive to come back :)

In reply to Lindy Ralph. GRRRL TRAVELER yes there are some well worn paths but lots of opportunity for going off the beaten track. It is huge but very easy to travel and lots of great food (pretty much the sole reason I travel )

This is such great information for first time travellers to India, it answers all the questions I wanted to know before I went. Can I give you a bit of cheeky advice though, it needs a good bit of editing as some of the sentences don’t make sense, you must have been tired when you wrote it
