Have you heard of Qinghai? Probably not. At the time of invitation, neither did Wikipedia, Lonely Planet or the internet. It was near impossible to do any trip planning research in advance (so we actually did a video about it). Today, you’ll find more online information about it and our YouTube video sits on the first page of Google search results for Qinghai Travel.
Exploring Qinghai and the Tibetan Plateau, 2015
GRRRLTRAVELER loves trend-setting travel with new destinations like Qinghai. Destinations like these, albeit a group trip, still helps us position female solo travel into a pioneering, safe but adventurous light. So we ride with that story. Entering Qinghai’s breath-taking landscapes and ethnic diversity of Tibetan-Chinese-Muslim cultures, we weren’t ready to be blown away! They became our featured focus. Till today, it’s a destination we still talk about.

Qinghai Tourism Board and Ctrip left the content creation to the bloggers. We were to feature what best suited our audiences, but the focus was the destination.
