Give us an epic destination that is unknown to western travelers and we want to be the first to introduce it and grow the buzz!
Have you heard of Qinghai? Probably not. At the time of invitation, neither did Wikipedia, Lonely Planet or the internet. It was near impossible to do any trip planning research in advance (so we actually did a video about it). Today, you’ll find more online information about it and our YouTube video sits on the first page of Google search results for Qinghai Travel.
Exploring Qinghai and the Tibetan Plateau
GRRRLTRAVELER loves trend-setting travel with new destinations like Qinghai. Destinations like these, albeit a group trip, still helps us position female solo travel into a pioneering, safe but adventurous light. So we ride with that story. Entering Qinghai’s breath-taking landscapes and ethnic diversity of Tibetan-Chinese-Muslim cultures, we weren’t ready to be blown away! They became our featured focus. Till today, it’s a destination we still talk about.
Paid Campaign Deliverables
Qinghai Tourism Board and Ctrip left the content creation to the bloggers. We were to feature what best suited our audiences, but the focus was the destination.

A #video peek inside my recent trip to #Qinghai. 💕🙏 please turn volume up! . As one of the largest regions of #China, Qinghai is near the #Tibetan border. A mixture of Mongolian and Tibetan influences, it houses monasteries, jaw dropping natural beauty, and lots yaks. For years this unchartered beauty has been frequented by Chinese travelers but has been a secret to international travelers. This is a video hiighlights to share my journey, but keep an eye on my #YouTube channel for more videos from China. . Camera & Equipment Kit we used on this campaign
While clients often focus on the short term value, as content creators we acknowledge the long-term investment and impact we have on a campaign. Old and unused content only matures with time and it can be recycled for seasonal content and outside partners.
Often we’ll say– if it’s not in the budget, we say we won’t do it. That’s fair business as a working professional. But if we have the time, and good content, we still give it to our audiences for a good binge watch.
