I purchased mine here this past September. Flew into Osaka for this trip and Tokyo was the last stop. All you need to do is provide your passport. They check to see if you have a tourist visa. It took about 5 minutes.

Great deals on accommodations (hostels there are very good), eating like a local, 3 day Tokyo metro pass for tourists along with the JR Rail pass are great benefits. And as in most of Asia, shrines/temples are Free or inexpensive.

Kappa Sushi is a chain of conveyor belt sushi places. Lived there 3 years. In Europe now and I really miss Japan. Could go for a tuna bowl right now!
