You are my travel angel!

Thank you for your support of GRRRL TRAVELER and me.

Your support means the world and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

People often don’t know what it takes to run a successful blog alone.  I do all my own work from website design, photos, writing, filming and editing videos, social media… and I do most of my own tech troubleshooting too.  Occasionally seed money or money I earn from running all this helps me hire help. But quite often the work I put in amounts to more than a 9-5 job (and I even hustle for jobs outside in order to keep this all going).

Any support I receive go back into creating and managing content, servicing equipment breakdowns or anything I need to help me do my work at GRRRL TRAVELER more efficiently.  Essentially, your support goes back out into the world to help travelers with tips and videos.  Sometimes, knowing that there’s people like yourself, who value the work I do, helps me through the ongoing bumps of my work as a Creator.  One GRRRL can do a lot, but not everything.

As always, travel safe, smart and fun! May the GRRR be with you! <3

xo!

Christine

No, really. Making videos are my passion but Achilles heel. I work terribly hard on them and often I am negotiating and pitching for sponsorship so I can add extra value and bucketlist fun to travel itineraries. It is not easy to make videos for audiences who are largely visible as view counts.  Which means, I only see a return on my investment through engagement on my videos- views, likes, comments, shares…

If I am working with an unpaid sponsorship to add extra fun to my video, it often means I am trading my video skill, equipment, and expertise in order to make free content on my channel. With a ten year career in video, I can legitimately charge businesses $1500/video for promotional or event videos which costs me a week to make. If i’m doing a video for my channel, I am exchanging it for a $100 day tour or a $300 hotel stay and I am doing extra work to get it promoted and seen.  It is not a very sensible plan for sustainability and it takes more out of me than freelancing as a straight videographer. But without that trade, i am taking money out of my savings in order to create a video.

Also, hit that notifications bell icon next to the Subscribe button so YouTube knows you’d like to get updates of when I publish my videos.

I create FREE trip planning information, inspiration and entertainment through my videos and blog guides.

But as a self-brand business, creating videos and blogs requires equipment, maintenance and travel expenses (you can read more here).  Filming and editing videos solo is work — sometimes, i think it is more interesting to watch me work than it is to see my travels because it is a full body/mind endeavor. My trips are never vacations– they are film shoots and thus, that is what my budget is based around. Thanks to my GRRR-Inspired Patron rockstars– it has helped me afford equipment to trip accommodations. They also provide emotional support and friendship during my creative struggles and it will not be forgotten. You can contribute monthly or one-time donation, which goes to blog maintenance, video production expenses, and content creation..

I offer perks, ranging from special access to my Patreon feed,  ebooks (which I normally charge for!),  my Secret Facebook Group,  behind-the-scenes moment of my process or my blog business. You get access to videos I won’t share with the public and occasional Google Hangouts.
