GRRRL TRAVELER I arrived in Japan Nov 25, 1991 on a three year work contract. Told my friends and family I would be back…I’m still here.
Besides seeing Japan itself, the great thing about living here is that it’s a jumping off point for this side of the world.
I’m from N.Y. originally, so there is a good chance I may never have seen Australia, N.Z., Singapore, the Philippines etc etc, because each trip would have required a very long flight from home.
99.9% of the friends I left behind have only ventured as far an Cancun or resorts in the Caribbean…only one has ever visited me here.
So happy I took that initial leap all those years ago – it I opened up the world for me☺️

Oh my gosh this is so spot on. For me it was #2, #3, #10 remember trying to figure out that train when we arrived, #15, and #19. Gosh #3….I’m still trying to convince Mike to let me splurge on a nice toto.

After many years here I am not surprised by much in Tokyo, but I do remember my first few months here, and how I felt walking around Tokyo just saying “wow” a lot.
