IF I’m able to do so, the first trip I’ll take when I retire is backpack Japan for 3 months starting in Sapporo working my way down to Fukuoka/Nagasaki hitting the lesser known spots more so than the popular destinations.

A long time ago I applied to teach English in Japan. It didn’t end up happening but I was leaning towards Fukuoka as my destination. Sadly when I ended up travelling through Japan, Fukuoka was just too far for my timespan and I ended up missing it off. Shame. One day I’ll go. And I’ll use this as a guide!
