Dear Korea,
Life isn’t always clear cut. Sometimes, it can feel complicated and vague, with torn edges, eraser smudges, double and triple folds and indistinct lines…
To create order out of action, you trail blaze your journey, forge your own rules.
And when you do this, life can feel messy.
Or is that just the illusion?
Packing my backpack to meet uncertainty,
GRRRL
================
I’ve sown a Korean seed and watched it grow…
March is rolling up quickly and my friend statuses on Facebook remind me of what I dread looking at– I’ve less than one week before my EPIK contract ends. Ack!
Daegu? Uproot.
I’ve a sad teardrop in my eye; it was a monumental year and it went by too quickly! Moreso, I’m finally creating a good life here: neighborhood doctor, dentist, neighborhood, can read signs a bit better, know where to go to fulfill my vegetarian needs … I even finally found falafels in Daegu!
(Buy the Book Cafe, F.Y.I…Facebook them!)
But soon, the exodus of old EPIKers will commence; hopeful newbies will come and take our place, possibly feeling excited, confused, scared, helpless and alone… Culture shock will begin again.
Kimchi with Eish! ,One Year in Daegu , Malou: From San Diego to Daegu, gonna miss the Daegu fellowship of blog pens. My dear EPIKers, you’re in my heart forever and only a mouse-click away! EPIK, you’re not that bad. You, me and Korea… we experienced growing pains together but it was worth it. This will go down as one of the most powerful years of my life!
But what happens next?
Will GRRRLTRAVELER be saying goodbye to Korea?
God I hope not.
I’m not ready to call it quits just yet, but I’ve not found a job replacement which offers a stronger creative edge or which I’m comfortable with. I’m still job hunting…
In the meanwhile, I’ve decided to take a few months off to travel India, where I’ll be entering yoga teacher training in the neighborhood of the Dalai Lama!
That’s the working plan anyways…
I’ll continue to blog about Korea & lifestyle survival (you may want to check my Calendar Archives link up top as it will likely give away what I’ll be posting next… and give you access to “a sneak peek” before the post officially comes out!) ; it’ll just be mixed with my new travels and hopefully, new lesson-learned tips that’ll help travelers and expats, alike.
Korea– I trust you’ll still be here and we’ll continue our kimchi-spiced adventure when I return! So a warm chalga-yo!
You know… I’ve never blogged from the road before. Doing so will be my next GRRRL! challenge.
